Some of the game's leading golfers will descend on Port St. Lucie when the Tesoro Club
70
hosts the Ginn Sur Mer Classic. The PGA Tour will make its first visit to the Treasure Coast
Oct. 22-28 during the classic, which is expected to draw more than 50,000 spectators.
“It will be great for the community with national advertising and great exposure for the
Treasure Coast as people come out to watch the best players in the world,” said John Subers,
tournament director for Ginn Sports Entertainment. The Golf Channel will provide full coverage
all four days of the tournament.
Tesoro was added to the PGA Tour after the Running Horse Championship in Fresno, Calif.,
ran into financial difficulties. Under the terms of a five-year agreement, the classic will rotate
throughout various Ginn properties.
The Ginn Sur Mer Classic at
Tesoro in Port St. Lucie will
have a purse of $4.5 million.
