What comes to mind when describing the overall look and feel of Susan Kamer’s Shores
home in Vero Beach is a combination of fantasy and serenity. Susan’s love of cats,
antiques, and murals converge in this uniquely designed Mediterranean home.
“I like to mix old things with new,” said Susan, a former antiques dealer. “And I love old
Spanish style homes.” When Susan contracted Gregory Anderson, a Delray Beach based architect
to design her new home, he was given plans based on another house she owned in Vero. “I wanted
him to expand upon the design of that home.”
With local builder Fred DiRocco, the team created a 7,000 square-foot (under roof) replica of an
Addison Mizner house which Susan moved into in 2001. “Mizner was an architect who developed
much of Palm Beach in the 1920s. I wanted this house to have the feel of that era’s style.”
