TASTE OF THE TREASURE COAST
When the server asked if we would prefer
the house triple-filtered water either still
or sparkling, we thought that if they cared
so much about the water there was great
promise for the food.
to win loyal and enthusiastic followers since the restaurant
opened in April 2013.
It was the dream of Chef Jason Stocks, 33, and his wife,
Mirka, to open a restaurant near Stocks’ hometown of Palm
City, a goal the couple worked toward for years while he
oversaw kitchens in high-end resorts on the East Coast.
“I always wanted to come back to the area,” says Stocks.
“I love it here.”
With its brushed stainless steel bar and industrial lighting,
mixed with farm tables topped with flowers in jelly jars,
District’s interior has a casual, urban feel. Blackboards
announce the specials and the farms, in particular, Kai Kai
Farm in Indiantown, and local purveyors that provide some
of the menu items.
But Stocks hasn’t just jumped on the culinary farm-to-table
bandwagon. The restaurant is leading the way in the area
and is one of the first to be awarded the Treasure and Gold
Coast’s Slow Food “Snail of Approval.” >>
