hese black-necked stilts (Himantopus mexicanus)
are doing a mating dance, stomping their feet
and creating bubbles. The stilts are more often seen
on beaches. But they can be seen inland around sand
ponds or even sandy roads with water close by. Food is
mostly aquatic small fish, tadpoles, insects and their larvae.
The stilts are easy to recognize with their long, pink legs and
