Briana Anderson did not tackle New York City this
summer just for fun. The 21-year-old Vero Beach
woman left her home and family knowing she was
going to fill one of the most prestigious summer
intern slots in the world of commercial publishing — O,
The Oprah Magazine.
“Magazines have always been a love of mine, and
fashion is the industry I’ve thought of working in,” said
Anderson. “Going to NYC to intern at Hearst Corp.
publisher of the magazine has been my goal since my
junior year of high school.”
“Each year for New Year’s Eve we sit around the dinner
table as a family and share the coming year’s goals,” said
Anderson’s mother, Ana. “Briana always came with a
list. She knew every goal she wanted to accomplish and
methodically checked them off.”
Everything Anderson has ever pushed for she has gotten
through hard work and planning. A journalism major at
the University of Florida, she worked her way up to editorin

chief of the Vero Beach High School yearbook, wrote
for the school newspaper/online newsletter and created a
newspaper for the Freshman Learning Center.
Her mother is a wedding and events planner of exceptional
events; her father, Bruce, is a driver/engineer for
Indian River County Fire Rescue and her brother, Eryc, is a
junior at John Carroll High School in Fort Pierce.
Anderson also writes her own blog, Neutral2Neon.com,
which showcases her passion for fashion and has more
than 6,000 followers. Britton Taylor, the fashion assistant
she worked under at the magazine, read the blog after seeing
her resume.
For a fashionista who has her eye set on one day working
in magazine marketing, having Oprah Winfrey listed
on her resume is a major accomplishment. So how did this
small town girl arrive at Hearst Tower’s doorstep?
“Landing my internship was pretty incredible actually,”
said Anderson. “A good friend interned with Marie Claire
last summer and I asked her to pass along my resume to
