SEASON OF THE ARTS
ART
37
have put the event on the social map in Indian River County.
“Our first event, in 2008, was a huge success,” Blakeslee
says. “Since then, (the number of) area businesses that participated
grew — north up to Bodega Blue (restaurant), east
to Old Dixie, and now encompasses over 32 businesses. We
wanted to have an event where the residents of Vero Beach
went into each business and discovered the many fantastic
galleries, boutiques, and specialty shops we had along 14th
Avenue.” The planners have recently added to the First
Friday Gallery Stroll name: Downtown Dine & Design (3D)
District of Vero Beach.
Burgarella reports that there’s a new art district developing
in Sebastian, just north of Vero Beach. Despite the economy,
the arts appear to be alive, well and well-appreciated on the
Treasure Coast.
