fifth floor is the maternity ward, with six neo-natal intensive
care units, a nursery, rooms for labor, delivery, recovery and
post-partum care.
When Hayley Van Vonno goes into labor to deliver her son
Carlos, she will make the 10-minute ride to Tradition Medical
Center. “That’s the plan,” says Van Vonno. “I was a little
nervous because it is new, but I have the same nurses and
doctors. It is nice and it is private. I am looking forward to it.”
Port St. Lucie’s first hospital, HCA-owned St. Lucie Medical
Center, opened in 1983. A 229-bed facility at 1800 S.E.
Tiffany Ave. on the east side of the city, it offers a full range of
acute care services, including emergency care, rehabilitation,
obstetrics, inpatient and outpatient surgery. E
The fourth floor is dedicated
to intensive care and pre- and
post-operation patients. There
are also two post-partum
rooms for mothers and their
newborn children.
