Mets return to Port St. Lucie
for 26th spring training season
The New York Mets will face a competitive schedule for 2014 spring training when they
play three teams that made last year’s playoffs for six home games at Tradition Field
in Port St. Lucie.
While the World Champion Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees won’t be coming
to town, the Minnesota Twins will visit March 15 for the first time in three years.
“We hoped for a cold winter up north) so people will come down for our weather,” said Paul
Taglieri, senior director of Florida operations for the Mets. “The weather is perfect here in March and
April. We’re very excited to start our 26th season at Tradition Field with a competitive schedule which
features a lot of great teams.”
Making the playoffs last season and facing the Mets are the St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves and
Detroit Tigers. The Washington Nationals and Miami Marlins will face the Mets three times while the
Houston Astros will visit for one game. There will be only three split-squad games at home.
