What inspires me: “Trying to be a better person is what’s
in my head all the time.”
Something people don’t know about me: “I’m afraid to
order food over the phone. It totally freaks me out. And I
technically have an allergy to light — I sneeze if I look at
the sun.”
‘‘I love this town. I feel
responsible to it. When
you really care about
a place you want to be
aware of what’s going on.
‘‘
— Clint Starling
He wants future generations to be able to fish and surf in
local waters just as he has always loved to do, so he’s constantly
urging Treasure Coast residents to vote with the river
in mind.
Politics, however, is not where he wants to end up. His only
political aspiration, he says, is to serve as a county commissioner
for Jensen Beach.
“I’d like to have the opportunity to represent my hometown.
Jensen Beach is very close to my heart,” Starling says.
According to Starling’s philosophy, good things happen
only when people get involved. It’s that involvement that
both benefits the community and lifts his spirits.
For now, however, he loves his position with the Arts
Council and wants nothing more than to assist Executive
Director Nancy Turrell to immerse the community in art.
In the meantime, he can still be found selling tickets or
manning a booth at nearly every Martin County event, playing
tennis in the park or enjoying a beer at his favorite local
hangout, contemplating how he can fill his time making the
community he loves a better place.
