Students pay a tech fee in the same way they pay textbook
fees, and the school offers graduates a new iPad when they
are on their way to college.
The trend seems to be moving toward digital as more
major publishers jump aboard. English teacher Corey Heroux
points out: “It’s part of this generation.” Students can choose
between ebooks or hard-cover editions when studying literature,
for instance. Either way, they can use their iPads to
enliven their reading.
The Diocese of Palm Beach initiated a $500,000 grant
program to schools within its district for the one-to-one initiative.
John Carroll received $30,000 as part of the program to
become a wireless campus. Contributions also came from
parents and community members. Teachers at the school
started using the high-tech approach two years ago for preparation.

ST. EDWARD’S SCHOOL

years in all grades. Here, Camille Greene, director of Learning Support
