VISIT & EXPLORE
Originally designed by landscape architect William Lyman Phillips, from the esteemed firm of Frederick
Law Olmsted, land developers Arthur G. McKee and Waldo E. Sexton opened McKee Jungle Gardens in
1932 on an 80-acre tropical hammock in Vero Beach. Restored and reopened in November 2001 on the
remaining 18 acres, McKee Botanical Garden is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and endorsed by
the Nature Conservancy as a project of national significance. The Garden features two historic structures, the Spanish
Kitchen and Hall of Giants, both meticulously restored to the vision of original founder and designer Waldo Sexton.
