The Youth Sailing Foundation will host two regattas for 40-50 Opti and 420
class sailboats from Florida in November and April. A cookout and awards
ceremony will follow racing on both days.

participating boats as they
pass by. Custom dictates for
passengers on the boats to
throw flowers toward the clergy
as they pass by. Following
the ceremony, all participants
are invited to the Yacht Club
for a special barbecue with
live music. The city marina will
make mooring balls available
to visiting boats. The club’s
pontoon boat Friendship will
ferry people to and from the
club, which is at 3601 Rio Vista
Blvd., next to the marina. The
blessing will be at 3 p.m. and
followed by the barbecue from
5 to 7 p.m.

Festival 2019 season with an
evening of mystery, where
“What’s happening that night
is not revealed until you attend.”

• Veterans Day Regatta – The
Youth Sailing Foundation will
host 40-50 Opti and 420 class
sailboats from Florida. A series
of 7-8 races will be held on two
different courses set south of
17th Street Bridge. Boats will
assemble and launch from the
PHIL REID
foundation’s docks and ramps
at the Vero Beach wastewater
treatment plant. A cookout and
awards ceremony will follow racing.
The public is invited. 2 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 14
• National Philanthropy Day
– Philanthropy Through the
Decades will be presented by
the Association of Fundraising
Professionals at the Vero
Beach Museum of Art. The
event will honor Indian River
County’s individual, group and
corporate philanthropists for
fundraising, philanthropy, and
volunteerism. 5:30 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 15 –
Sunday, Nov. 18
• St. Helen’s Harvest Festival
– The festival at Dodgertown
will be in conjunction with the
Centennial Celebration of St.
Helen’s Catholic Church. There
will be more than 25 games
and drawings, great festival
food and a midway with about
20 rides from Deggeller Attractions
of Stuart. The Lady
Bug Boutique will feature
handcrafted gifts. Admission
and parking are free. For more
