Visitors to St. Lucie County, along with other area counties, were slow to enjoy activities at the beginning of the season because of rainy and cooler weather here, but they are starting to pick up as the season moves on, according to tourism officials. The fountain at Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens greets visitors to this green oasis in the heart of Port St. Lucie. Various paved paths lead to the numerous gardens, including the butterfly garden, rose garden and the orchid house.
