The black cat that nuzzles your feet when you
enter Rosslow’s in downtown Fort Pierce is missing
a back foot, but he has no trouble greeting
customers or hobbling to his food dish.
And owners Cindy and Greg Rosslow point out that he
can say his name: Meow.
Meow disproves the myth about black cats. Since he
became a mascot of sorts at Rosslow’s, the rescued kitten
has brought nothing but good luck.
Of course, hard work, quality merchandise and great
service have something to do with the continuing success
of the 62-year-old women’s apparel store, which has
weathered the toughest of economic times.
“Oh gosh,” says Cindy. “Retail sales is such a hard
business, but we try to keep on top of all the new trends,
and we offer things like free gift wrapping and products
customers can’t find elsewhere.”
Those products, such as colorful Vera Bradley bags
and sparkly Pandora jewelry, fill separate areas of the
7,000-square-foot store, which has expanded and changed
its focus over the years.
“I hear people say they can’t believe the variety we
have, or that it’s one-stop shopping,” Cindy says. “They
like that.”
