Amanda Sculthorne, left, talking to Kelly Geoffrion, takes advantage of Archie’s
pet-friendly environment.
she plans to start on a new outdoor bandstand that she says will
help absorb sound from bands performing at Archie’s; a new walkthrough
freezer; new bathrooms; a prep kitchen; and more parking
on land she’s bought over the years.
“I’m not rushing,” she said.
Her expansion plans got a boost in December when the city
agreed to rezone her property to commercial use. For more than six
decades, it had been zoned residential.
“I want to live in this community,” McGee said. “That’s why I
bought here and stayed here. I feel like a part of the community.”
She especially proud of the weekly chuch gathering at Archie’s.
“I tell people it’s truly my happy hour,” she said, “People all
come with so much love in their hearts and everybody is joyous for
an hour. I love it.”
