BATHTUB BEACH
1585 SE MacArthur Blvd.
Stuart
772.288.5400
Beloved by families for decades, Bathtub Beach
took this year’s Best of the Treasure Coast
award for Best Beach. If you’ve never been
there you can check out the Bathtub Beach
webcam at http://www.evsmartin.com/bathtub.
The page even offers temperature, windspeed and
other information. Young children and their parents
can wade way out on the long gentle slope of sand
beneath the water on this friendly beach. Parents say
it is a good place to play in the water or teach their
children to swim. Outlying reefs reduce the size of
waves. Because generations of families have enjoyed
Bathtub Beach, they easily remember when they,
too, were first introduced to the ocean and beach
just as they are now doing with their youngest family
members. Snorkeling enthusiasts will enjoy the reef
at Bathtub Beach, while shell-hunters may find good
pickings, depending on the weather. It is also a good
place to try out the new kayak some lucky people
will get in December. TripAdvisor.com has nothing but
praise and good reviews for Bathtub Beach and ranks
it No. 4 of nine listed attractions for Stuart. Bathtub
Beach, also called Bathtub Reef Beach, is on Martin
County’s portion of South Hutchinson Island, at the
southern end near Sailfish Point.
WHAT R E A D E R S S AY
‘‘ ‘‘ An often peaceful retreat when waves at other beaches
are too big to negotiate. It’s been a Stuart landmark
and meeting place for generations.
‘‘ ‘‘ Love the lack of crazy waves for children.
