Avast ye! Shiploads of seafood and pirate activities can be found at the Fort Pierce Seafood and Pirate Fest on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park and Riverwalk Center. With mermaids and pirates, cannons and swords, kids’ fun zones, pet friendly, and a wide array of vendors and shops to explore. There will be live music and donations of canned goods for the Treasure Coast Food Bank would be appreciated. Free parking is available at the city parking garage. Upcoming events- Jan. 1 - Mar. 1

Local boat parades light up the waters for the holidays on Saturday, Dec. 9, about 6 p.m. in St. Lucie County along the Fort Pierce Inlet. View the parade from the Veterans Memorial Park, South Bridge, Causeway Park, or anywhere along the north side of South Hutchinson Island. Boats turn at the Square Grouper and go back. In Indian River and Martin counties the parades are on Saturday, Dec. 16. The Indian River County parade starts at 6 p.m. just north of the Merrill Barber bridge and follows the same route south on the Indian River as it did in previous years. The Martin County boat parade starts at 6:30 p.m. at the downtown Stuart public docks and proceeds down the St. Lucie River to Manatee Pocket. The judging takes place at Sandsprit Park. Have a hauntingly good time at the Harvest Bonfire and Hayride on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 2-8 p.m. at McCarty Ranch Preserve, 12323 Range Line Road in Port St. Lucie. Walk the jack-o-lantern trail with more than 200 hand-carved pumpkins. Bring your chairs to this free event.
