Local boat parades
Local boat parades light up the waters for the holidays on Saturday, Dec. 9, about 6 p.m. in St. Lucie County along the Fort Pierce Inlet. View the parade from the Veterans Memorial Park, South Bridge, Causeway Park, or anywhere along the north side of South Hutchinson Island. Boats turn at the Square Grouper and go back. In Indian River and Martin counties the parades are on Saturday, Dec. 16. The Indian River County parade starts at 6 p.m. just north of the Merrill Barber bridge and follows the same route south on the Indian River as it did in previous years. The Martin County boat parade starts at 6:30 p.m. at the downtown Stuart public docks and proceeds down the St. Lucie River to Manatee Pocket. The judging takes place at Sandsprit Park.
