repare for a spirit-lifting, sparkling
Treasure Coast holiday season
filled with treats this year as a cascade
of events brightens the days and nights with
everything from evening boat parades to brilliant
ballet performances.
The theaters are going all out, shining with events from the
traditional, such as “It’s A Wonderful Life” at the Riverside
Theatre in Vero Beach and the Lyric Theatre in Stuart, and
two exquisite “Nutcracker” ballets, to a new indoor-outdoor
day and evening holiday celebration at the Sunrise Theatre in
Fort Pierce.
“This is going to be great this year, with a free street festival
all afternoon on December 19, and a concert in the theater
in the evening,” said John Wilkes, executive director of the
Sunrise Theatre. “We’re calling it Felice Navidad, and it’s the
first time we’ve done this. I think everyone’s going to love it
and we’re expecting it to draw a big crowd.”
Riverside Theatre is hosting its annual Festival of Trees,
said spokesman Oscar Sales. “It turns the children’s theater
building into a winter wonderland with holiday wreaths,
gingerbread villages and over 40 beautifully decorated trees.
This is the major fundraising event for the Riverside Children’s
Theatre.”
The Sunrise Theatre hosts both the Moscow Ballet and the
St. Lucie Ballet versions of “The Nutcracker” this year.

Holiday boat parades are a Treasure Coast tradition in Vero Beach, Fort Pierce and Stuart. Join in with your own boat, or head for a great view from the
shoreline. These early December parades kick off the holiday season.
