been transformed into a creative center for artists

Start small; dream big. That is Art Mundo, a brandnew

arts organization in Fort Pierce, says Allie
Comer, one of its founders.
Comer, Deena Wynne, Sherry Horton and Ginny
Piech Street, all Treasure Coast artists and old friends,
invited a few others to meet with them at Heathcote Botanical
Gardens in Fort Pierce two years ago to talk about an idea: To
create a cultural, creative center in Fort Pierce as dynamic as the
best arts and crafts resource centers in the country.
Street says, “Allie, Sherry, Deena and I were who was ‘left
standing’ at the end of the meeting. Voila! Art Mundo!”
That first meeting could be considered the easiest part of
such an ambitious plan, but things seem to be falling into
place. The quartet received their official 501(c)(3) tax-exempt
designation from the federal government in January, and
soon after, Art Mundo found a home.
“We thought it would be at least two or three years before
we’d be able to have a location,” Comer says. “The plan was
