Having been raised in the yachting environment, June-Ann
DeGraw is the third female Commodore in the club’s 65-
year history.

Fort Pierce Inlet adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean.

tradition, having been raised in a yachting environment,” she says. “I
want to reinstate the yachting traditions here. I hope to start a ceremony,
retiring the colors every Wednesday and Friday evenings. Right at about
sunset, we will lower the flags and shoot off the cannon.” Once a quarter,
she would also like to have a special flag ceremony for veterans. “We will
raise and retire a flag and then have a special folding ceremony to honor a
deceased veteran,” says DeGraw.
When she was first elected to the board, DeGraw pushed to start a sailing
club. She soon realized, though, that the members were more interested in
fishing. To that end, with the help of Vice Commodore Peter R. Tyson, a new
