The phrase “Good Samaritan” is part of our vernacular, meaning a person who helps others. When the phrase was first coined in a first century parable, however, the words likely shocked listeners. Samaritans were regarded as outcasts at that time. “Good” Samaritan was a radical thought.

After a daily commute between Hobe Sound and Sebastian for two years, Michael and Sue Stutzke discovered their dream house in Tesoro.

St. Lucie County School District employees had to spread themselves out at various locations throughout the county because of hurricane damage. However, a new administration building will make them one happy family again.

The Port St. Lucie Community Band rehearses weekly, and performs throughout the year, primarily at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center. The band was founded in 1989 by local musicians who had the support of area businesses and encouragement of city officials. PORT ST. LUCIE COMMUNITY BAND PHOTO

Anything that brings people of all races, ages and backgrounds together is a good thing. When it includes entertainment for all, it’s a great thing. Port St. Lucie Community Band is a wonderful example, whether young or old, bald or blue-streaked. The band personifies “community” as it celebrates 30 years of entertaining the public.
