Celebrating 30 Seasons
of Beauty and Music
Thirty years ago, a small group opera lovers and those growing to love opera formed
the Treasure Coast Opera Society. Performances were held in the Fort Pierce Civic
Center. Until his death in 1990, Florida landscape artist A.E. “Bean’’ Backus annually
donated a painting for fund-raising. Today, with season performances at the magni -
cent Sunrise Theatre and nationally known opera singers performing principle roles,
the Treasure Coast Opera remains the only opera production company between Fort
Pierce and Jacksonville.
As we enter our 30th season, we invite you to become part of the Treasure Coast
Opera by becoming a member of the society and attending our performances during
the 2008-2009 season. Your support will ensure that Fort Pierce remains the home of
one of Florida’s most outstanding opera companies.
