Come celebrate America250 and sample a taste of Florida food history Saturday, June 13 at 2 pm at the St Lucie (Village) School when “Florida Talks” journalist and author Dalia Colon presents “Telling Florida Food Stories.”
This program is sponsored by the Florida Remembered Society through Florida Humanities’ current “Florida Talks” speakers’ series celebrating “Florida Reflections: America 250–Everlasting Florida.”
Presenter Colon will share an interactive overview of Florida’s history told through the lens of our state foods, and she’ll spark conversations on Florida’s contribution to the American tale and the American table. From indigenous foodways, to the rise and fall of the citrus industry, to modern sustainability efforts, Colon will keep the discussion energized and personalized with audience story sharing, and audio and video clips,
