Daughter of Auschwitz Survivor and Nagasaki Bomb Survivor Shares Extraordinary Family Story at The Emerson Center

The daughter of an
Auschwitz survivor and a prisoner of war who survived the atomic bombing of
Nagasaki will share her extraordinary family story at The Emerson Center E-Series
on Tuesday, February 2, 2027, at 7:00 p.m.

Award-winning author and
international speaker Roslyn Franken will present a powerful multimedia program
based on her acclaimed book, Meant to Be: A True Story of Might, Miracles
and Triumph of the Human Spirit.

Franken’s mother survived Auschwitz
and other Nazi concentration camps, while her father endured captivity as a
prisoner of war in Japan and survived the atomic bombing of Nagasaki. Against
extraordinary odds, their paths eventually crossed, creating a remarkable story
of resilience, courage, and hope.

Through historic family photographs,
rare video footage, and personal narration, Franken brings her parents’ journey
to life, sharing the astonishing events that enabled them to survive some of
history’s darkest moments and ultimately build a future together. Their legacy
continues to inspire audiences with a message of perseverance, compassion, and
the enduring strength of the human spirit.

even in the face of unimaginable hardship, love and resilience can
prevail.”

Franken’s book received the National
Gold Award from the Nonfiction Authors Association, and Kirkus Reviews
