The City of Fort Pierce invites the community to attend the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony and Memorial Service on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Veterans Memorial Park, located at 600 N. Indian River Drive, Fort Pierce, FL 34950.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. The ceremony will honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost and recognize the courage and sacrifice of first responders, veterans, service members, and all those impacted by the events of that day.
A special tribute will honor Fort Pierce native CeeCee Ross Lyles, a flight attendant aboard United Airlines Flight 93. Her courage and legacy remain an important part of Fort Pierce’s history.
Mayor Linda Hudson will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies. The remembrance will include the Presentation of Colors, the National Anthem performed by the Lincoln Park Academy Chorus, and Voices of Remembrance honoring the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and Flight 93. A family member of CeeCee Ross Lyles will participate in the Flight 93 remembrance.
State Representative Dana Trabulsy will deliver a special 25th Anniversary Remembrance and narrate the ceremonial wreath laying. The Wreath Presentation will include St. Lucie County Fire District Fire Chief Jeff Lee, St. Lucie County Deputy Chief Milo Thornton, Fort Pierce Police Chief David Smith, and American Airlines Flight Attendant Teri Bottomley.
Also participating in the Wreath Presentation will be Francis Watson, aunt of heroic United Airlines Flight 93 Flight Attendant CeeCee Ross Lyles, escorted by United Airlines International Purser Jerome Sangalli, AFA-CWA Boston and former Union Vice President. Together, they will represent United Airlines and American Airlines pilots and flight attendants on behalf of all four UAL and AA unions.
City of Fort Pierce City Commissioner Arnold Gaines will provide a special recognition of first responders, veterans, and active-duty military members in honor of their service and sacrifice.
The ceremony will also include a scholarship presentation, three-volley salute, Taps, and “Amazing Grace” performed by the St. Lucie County Fire District Pipes & Drums.
