The accolades keep coming
They came in rapid-fire succession.
First it was the announcement by online real estate brokerage Movoto.com ranking
Port St. Lucie as the No. 1 city to live in in Florida.
Movoto said Port St. Lucie was Florida’s best city to live in because of its low crime rate,
low cost of living, employment growth, housing and weather.
Then came a report in Forbes that listed Port St. Lucie as one of the 200 best places in
the country for business and careers. The magazine cited a median household income of
$43,964, job growth of 1.5 percent and and cost of living at 3.4 percent below the national
average.
And finally, Forbes came back again, ranking Port St. Lucie as one of the 25 Best Places to
Retire in 2014.
The magazine hailed the city’s “warm coastal climate, above average air quality, cost
of living at 5 percent below national average, typical home price of $140,000 and low
crime rate.”
So the rest of the world — or at least readers of Forbes and followers of Movoto — now
have a pretty good idea of what Port St. Lucie residents have known all along: This is a
pretty nice place to live.
Beyond the statistics about Port St. Lucie are the incredible amenities, with natural
resources like the North Fork of the St. Lucie River and the ocean a close drive away. For
sports fans, there are the New York Mets. And for those on the go, the turnpike and I-95
make quick trips to the Orlando and West Palm Beach airports possible.
These awards are great news for Port St. Lucie, and further improvements will only bring
more attention to the city.
