Ahh, gym class — the hard floors, the mean
60
coaches, the boring exercises … if your memories
of gym class aren’t pleasant, here’s a fresh lesson:
Treasure Coast gyms and fitness centers offer
classes that are just what the doctor ordered. Like
gym class, only better.
Check out these challenging, but rewarding classes at a
gym near you. You may be surprised by what you find. Local
gyms offer classes in everything from aerobics to Zumba.
Shop around for your gym, but also for your classes.
Trainers suggest that you choose what fits your taste, not just
what’s popular. An exercise class can help you get in shape,
stay in shape or lose weight, but unless it’s something you
enjoy, you won’t keep it up. Are you graceful and coordinated?
Competitive and driven? In need of a major overhaul?
It doesn’t matter. There’s a class for you.
“A good exercise class should make you feel good, look
good and get excited about coming back for the next class,”
says Charlie Tooch, Director of Group Fitness for Gold’s Gym
in Port St. Lucie. “Most gyms offer a variety of classes because
each member’s goals and objectives can be completely
different. You may be looking for fellowship, to get healthier,
to get a toned body or all three.”
Here is a sampling of some of the latest trends in exercise
classes at local gyms from Vero to Stuart.
