The Orthopedic & Spine Institute at St. Lucie Medical Center
is all about you. From the hotel-like accommodations to
the most innovative techniques and best equipment, to the
top surgeons on the Treasure Coast, the Institute wants to
make your stay a pleasant one and quickly get you back to living the
healthy, happy life you deserve.
The brand new, $22.4 million Orthopedic & Spine Institute on
St. Lucie Medical Center’s third floor was built with you in mind,
whether you’re a baby-boomer who stays active and demands the
best life has to offer or a senior citizen with joint, fracture or back
problems that require special knowledge and care.
“The whole unit was built around patient needs,” said Director
Jesse Gabaut. “Patients who come here are usually healthy and
medically stable people who want elective surgery. So when hospital
administrators and architects were designing the Institute, with
the help of our medical professionals, they kept this in mind.”
The new unit
has all private
rooms, with
hospital equipment
hidden
behind artwork
and stylish furnishings.
A highly
trained team
of orthopediccertified
nurses,
board-certified
orthopedic
surgeons and
neurosurgeons,
physical therapists,
and technicians
will tend
to your needs,
whether you are
there for elective
or emergency
surgery.
“We’ve always had a high quality orthopedics and spine program
at St. Lucie Medical Center,” said hospital CEO Gary Cantrell.
“Now that we’ve added this upscale, hotel-like environment,
there’s no reason for patients who want the best treatment and
accommodations to go anywhere else.”
The Institute offers an array of services, including an innovative,
minimally invasive hip surgery requiring only a small incision and
no extensive cutting of the muscle surrounding the hip, said Nancy
Baker, assistant director of surgical services.
“This reduces the typical hospital stay of 3 to 4 days down to 2
to 3 days, and their rehabilitation goes more quickly because pain is
not a big factor,” she said.
Two new operating rooms, a coffee lounge, wireless internet,
and a rehab room highlight the expansion.
Some of the many procedures offered
at the Institute:
ACL repair, foot and ankle surgery, joint replacement, knee
and rotator cuff repair, spine surgery and sports medicine.
Conditions include arthritis, joint diseases or discomfort,
1800 SE Tiffany Ave. • Port Saint Lucie, FL sports or other injuries, back and neck pain.
