“During the formative
years, the club had
studios in a variety of
locations in downtown
Vero Beach and in 1975
began negotiations with
the City of Vero Beach for
a (permanent) location
for the club,” Bridwell
said. The club’s first art
school was established
in 1977 at 1965 14th Ave.
“It was a major source of
income, with sales made
from the gallery.”
Through a joint effort
with the Alliance for the
Arts, an agreement was
reached with the city in
1981 and the Center for
the Arts was on its way
to fruition.
