Only a few fortunate souls really knew Ron DiMenna. But to the people along the Space Coast, throughout Florida — and around the world — he was the iconic entrepreneur and king of the surfing lifestyle as founder of Ron Jon Surf Shop.

Adams, 91, died Sept. 22 surrounded by family in the modest cypress home he built on Adams Ranch west of Fort Pierce for his bride in 1949. Until a stroke a week before he died, he continued to drive himself around the ranch that he spent 80 years tending and protecting.

Alma Lee Loy, known as the First Lady of Vero Beach because of her standing as a community advocate, died peacefully on April 10. A native Floridian, she was born June 10, 1929, in Vero Beach.
