Teaching runs in Joshua Perry’s DNA. And fortunately for his students, Martin County’s newest teacher of the year decided to follow in his family’s footsteps.

“My mother taught at the Head Start program in Port Salerno for a long time and currently, she’s at Riverbend Academy,” Perry says. “My father taught all over the place — Port Salerno Elementary, Spectrum, Jensen Beach High School, Willoughby Learning Center — and now he’s retired. And then, my grandmother was an elementary principal in the Martin County School District for almost 40 years.”
