Summer fishing tournaments

Anglers, get ready! Spring, summer and fall fishing tournaments will keep you busy chasing that prizewinner.
We don’t promise to have all of them here but the list below is a great start. May 7-14
Fishing Frenzy – Fort Pierce. Hosted by the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce. Annual offshore dolphin [the fish] tournament with a twist: no in-person gathering. 5th annual KDW [king, dolphin, wahoo] Tournament – Stuart, hosted by Stuart Sailfish Club.  Unlimited number of anglers [but at least two] per boat. Registration and party slated for May 13 at  Tiki Hut Pavilion, Stuart. Tournament is May 14. Back Country Fishing Tournament – Fort Pierce. Hosted by Back Country Fishing Association in Fort Pierce. Monthly tournament series for reds, snook and trout with a two-day classic in October. 720.298.4353 May 19-21
World Championship Kingfish Tournament – Fort Pierce. Hosted by Angler Armory Fishing Club out of Causeway Cove Marina, Fort Pierce. Teams from across the Southeast will compete. Weigh-in is at 6 p.m. on May 21. See www.anglerarmory.com for details May 20
Wild West/Fishing for Futures KDW Tournament – Fort Pierce. Kingfish, dolphin, wahoo tourney hosted by Angler Armory out of Causeway Cove Marina. Weigh-in is 3-6 p.m. See anglerarmory.com for details. May 21
Fish Kids Seawall Tournament – Fort Pierce. Hosted by Angler Armory Fishing Club out of Causeway Cove Marina, Fort Pierce. Fishing time is 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. See anglerarmory.com for details. May 27-28
36th annual Memorial Weekend Fishing Tournament – Stuart. Hosted by Treasure Coast Builders Association, it is based out of Pirates Cove Resort and Marina, Stuart. This recreational fishing tournament is for sport fishing vessels only. Special category for black fin tuna. Fees start at $295 per boat. See treasurecoastba.com/events. July 9-10
First annual Summer Sail Tournament – Stuart. Hosted by Stuart Sailfish Club at Tiki Hut Pavilion.  Details not available yet. See Stuartsailfishclub.com. Call the club director at 888.6337. July 29-30
44th annual Junior Angler Tournament – Stuart. For kids 15 years and younger, a great time for the entire family and Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches kids from all over Florida. Southern Fortune Fishing Tournament – Anglers can fish their favorite spots for 30 species of fish for a whole year.  The list, which includes several kinds of grouper, snapper and others, is on its website. Fee: $199. Donations go to  Fish and Wildlife Federation of Florida, Inwater Research Group, Wounded Warrior Project, Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute Foundation and others. Treasure Coast Bonito Blast – Stuart. The tournament, at Pirates Cove Resort and Marina in Stuart, raises money  for the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund. Details will be available at TreasureCoastBonitoBlast.com or call 215.2250. Sept. 23-24
Michael Shields Memorial Inshore Open Tournament – Jensen Beach. Catch and release snook,  tarpon, redfish, trout. Proceeds last year benefited Project LIFT for teens and young adults.  Details to come. See www.fishforthekids.com or call 221.2244. Sept. 30-Oct. 1
Saltwater Sisters Lady Angler Tournament – Stuart. With Stuart Sailfish Foundation, benefiting breast  cancer patients by helping to fund free mammograms for uninsured men and women.  Details when available will be posted on facebook.com/swsfish or call the club director at 888.6337.
