Treasure Coast Business, a quarterly magazine serving St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River and Okeechobee counties, has begun publication, with the inaugural issue arriving this week.
The magazine was launched under a unique partnership between Indian River Magazine Inc. and the Florida Small Business Development Center at Indian River State College.
“The purpose of the magazine is to give business leaders, owners and operators of snapshot of the Treasure Coast economic environment to enable them to make decisions to maintain and grow their businesses,’’ said Indian River Magazine Inc. President Gregory Enns.
With newspapers across the country cutting back on local business coverage over the last decade, the new magazine helps fill in the gap, Enns said.
The magazine utilizes the talents of the professional journalists from the Indian River Magazine staff and the business experts from the Florida Small Business Development Center who have extensive experience assisting small businesses with virtually any issue that arises. The lead writer for the inaugural issue was Bernie Woodall, a 21-year business writer for Reuters.
“Small business is a critical component for the Treasure Coast marketplace,’’ said Tom Kindred, regional director of the SBDC at IRSC. “Treasure Coast Business will allow the FSBDC at IRSC to provide valuable information that can help businesses start, grow and succeed.’’
The magazine has a mix of in-depth business stories, columns from business experts in their fields and a business buzz section featuring promotions, new business and products and philanthropic contributions made by businesses in the area.
Treasure Coast Business reaches more than 5,000 business leaders, owners and operators through a combination of direct mail and subscriptions. The magazine is also available at chambers of commerce and economic development councils in St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River and Okeechobee counties.
Content and a complete online flipbook version will also be available online at tcbusiness.com, a 4-year-old Web site developed by Indian River Magazine Inc., and through the weekly Treasure Coast Business newsletter produced by the Indian River Magazine staff.
“We want to thank the many businesses, chambers and economic development councils that have made the new magazine possible,’’ Enns said.
