Medical miracle
While most retirees seek carefree, this doctor offers free care
BY DONNA CRARY
As insurance and medical costs continue to rise, millions of Americans are left without access to basic care, causing many to slip through the cracks of the healthcare system. The uninsured are more likely to skip regular doctor visits or wait until a chronic ailment becomes so dire, they wind up in an emergency room. But in Martin County, they don’t have to wait. For the past 30 years, Volunteers in Medicine Clinic has provided free, compassionate care to residents who cannot otherwise afford it. Dr. Jordan Bromberg has served as the clinic’s medical director since 2021, offering hope and healing to the uninsured.
