On Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 12:01 AM to 11:59 PM, communities around the globe are invited to unite for World Parkinson’s Day by participating in “Spark the Night in Blue,” a day-long illumination event to shine a light—literally and symbolically—on the millions of people affected by Parkinson’s.
Parkinson’s is one of the fastest-growing neurological conditions worldwide, impacting not only those diagnosed but also their families, care partners, researchers, scientists, trainers, and the healthcare professionals who dedicate their lives to advancing treatment and support. “Spark the Night in Blue” aims to show solidarity, raise awareness, and inspire continued scientific research as we get closer to a cure, better understanding, care, and hope for the Parkinson’s community.
How to Participate: • Residents: Place blue lights at your front door or set blue electric candles in your windows to show your support. • Businesses & Organizations: Illuminate your storefronts, offices, or entire buildings in blue to stand in unity with those living with Parkinson’s. Register if you’d like at https://www.worldparkinsonsnight.com/ • Community Groups: Host awareness activities, share educational materials, or encourage neighbors to join the illumination movement. • Everyone: Spread the message on social media using #SparkTheNight and #WorldParkinsonsDay.
“Each blue light represents awareness, compassion, and a commitment to progress,” said David & Leah LoPresti, business owners. “Lighting up the night reminds every person living with Parkinson’s—and those working to support them—that they are seen, valued, and never alone, along with the potential for a cure.”
World Parkinson’s Day is observed annually on April 11, honoring the birthday of Dr. James Parkinson, whose pioneering work continues to guide research today. “Spark the Night in Blue” is a powerful visual tribute to the ongoing efforts of scientists, clinicians, therapists, advocacy organizations, and families who strive daily to improve quality of life and advance breakthroughs in Parkinson’s care.
About Spark The Night
As part of SPARK THE NIGHT, cities around the world will partner with local leaders to illuminate buildings and iconic landmarks in blue, symbolizing support for Parkinson’s disease. Our goal is to light 12 million blue lights-one for each of the more than 12 million people living with Parkinson’s worldwide.
World Parkinson’s Night is an annual global event that unites communities worldwide to raise awareness, support, and solidarity for those living with Parkinson’s disease. This inspiring gathering serves as a beacon of hope, bringing together individuals, caregivers, advocates, and healthcare professionals in a shared mission to empower and uplift the Parkinson’s community.
