Rio's Rescue

What do you do when the person who helps everyone else needs a little help? Sometimes, the river runs both ways. After working overseas with the US Dept. of State, Rio Ratermanis moved here and began helping  St. Lucie children  and families as an ER nurse, and now a  Professional Development Facility Clinical Educator for HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital. Outside of work, Rio volunteers her training as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner with the Inner Truth Project serving survivors of sexual assaults and other organizations, too.

But one medical issue can derail all of us, and that’s what has happened with Rio, so we’re making sure the river of love runs both ways help Rio keep her home and share the same love with her that she so freely shares with all of us. Won’t you join us and help? On Wednesday, October 8th, from 4 – 10 p.m., every slice of pizza, glass of wine or soda, salad, or gratuity you share will help cover Rio’s overwhelming medical debt and assist in helping this community treasure keep her home, too. One hundred percent of all proceeds, including staff salaries and tips, will be donated back to Rio to help ensure that she can feel the love that she shares so freely with everyone else. If you’d like to help, just plan to have dinner at Big Apple that night, or come on down and join the party, share a hug and a warm word of support and encouragement, and help show Rio that the river of love does, indeed, run both ways.
