Just as winter is a time for family get-togethers, it is the same for these migratory birds that fly South for the winter months. These cowbirds are grouped by the hundreds around the ranch barn. They are called cowbirds because they are often seen around cattle or bison catching insects stirred up by the larger animals’ grazing. One amazing thing about these birds is they lay their eggs in other birds’ nests for them to raise.
