Summer is the time to be near the water and this green heron [Butorides virescens] is no exception. This beautiful bird is standing on limestone rocks covered with white algae in water coming out of an artesian well. Year-round temperature of the water stays at a constant of 70 degrees. This great hunter is feeding on small fish.
