Wallflower Custom Picture Framing took off with a
bang from the very beginning.
From the time she opened the doors on March 14,
“I didn’t have time to take a breath,” owner Rebecca Street
said. She attributes it to the strong network of artists and others
in related businesses that cheered her on and hoped for
her to succeed.
“We have a thriving and supportive art community,” she said.
Word of mouth helped. So did taking her business cards
to the galleries around town. She started a Facebook page
before the remodeling of her space started and kept friends
up to date with the latest.
Wallflower offers custom framing, with more than 500
frames in a variety of materials and colors available. Street
will have prints of photographs made and have videos transferred
to thumb drives or DVDs. She also will stretch canvases
and stretch needlepoint work, too. Besides custom framing,
Wallflower has ready-made frames and mats for those who
prefer to do it themselves. Decorating the walls are paintings
for sale by local artists.
Street started framing pictures when she was 18. Later, she
worked for Jiffy Photo and when Jiffy closed, she bought its
framing business.
“What’s really cool is that you can take a piece of art and
make it feel one way or make it feel another way by the mat
and frame you choose. It’s the last stop before you put it on
the wall,” she said.
