Rick Crary
A lawyer by
profession, Rick
grew up in Stuart,
graduated from the
University of South
Florida and earned
his law degree
with honors from
the University of
Florida. The Palm City resident who has
two sons with his wife, Donna, enjoys
sightseeing, writing and painting.
Pattie Durham
A Fort Pierce resident, Pattie has worked
in journalism
and education
while raising two
daughters with her
husband, Rusty. A
graduate of Eastern
Kentucky University,
she once received
top secret clearance
at the Office of
Emergency Preparedness so she could
type up the projects.
Greg Gardner
A photographer, writer, video producer
and cameraman,
Greg spent his
formative days
as an Army brat,
attending 12
schools in 12
years. The Jensen
Beach resident
likes to keep active
traveling, having
visited six continents and attended 11
Olympics events in seven countries.
Ellen Gillette
The South Carolina native is a parttime
teacher and
freelance writer
who studied at
Western Carolina
University and
Indian River
State College. A
mother of four and
grandmother of
three, Ellen once lived in India for a year.
She enjoys community theater, traveling
and poetry.
Janie Gould
A longtime Vero
Beach resident,
Janie is a writer and
retired producer
for NPR member
station WQCS.
Born in Deland,
she received a
journalism degree
from the University
of Florida. She enjoys Florida walking
tours, playing the piano and the painted
buntings in her backyard.
Catherine Enns Grigas
A thirdgeneration
Fort
CELEBRATING
Pierce native,
Catherine, author
of The Journey of
the Highwaymen, is
an award-winning
writer. She and
her husband, Dan,
live in Stuart and
Charlottesville, Va. and previously lived
in Jacksonville, where they raised three
children.
Willi Miller
Before moving
to Vero Beach, Willi
lived in the U.S.
Virgin Islands and
Miami. Arts and
crafts, including
lapidary and
silversmithing,
are several of her
hobbies as is cooking West Indian food.
And she once crewed on True Love, the
sailboat seen in the movie High Society.
Jerry Shaw
A transplant from
Brick Township,
N.J., Jerry lives in
Fort Pierce where
he enjoys beach
activities, nature
walking and birdwatching. The longtime
book editor/writer, was once a licensed
life/health insurance agent.
Christina Tascon
The Vero Beach resident, who lives with
her chihuahuas,
Lucy and Boca,
wears many
different career
hats, from writer
to marketing
coordinator to
photographer and
graphic artist. A
self-proclaimed
“investigative ninja,” she enjoys cooking,
creative arts and antiques.
L.L. (Lisa) Angell
Lisa is a teacher
and freelance writer
who received a
Master of Fine
Arts from Sarah
Lawrence College
and was once a
tour guide at The
New York Times. A
resident of Vero Beach since 1989, she
enjoys bird watching, beginner tennis and
sailing, when possible.
Gloria Taylor Weinberg
An award-winning novelist, Gloria lives
in Fort Pierce with her husband, Mark.
She has been
honored by the
Florida Writers
Association and
the Florida Authors
and Publishers
Association, which
awarded her a
five-star Reader’s
Favorite Gold
Seal for A Homicide in Hooker’s Point. The
mother of three and grandmother of
seven was an adjunct professor at Indian
River Community College Police Academy.
