The Hit Men
Thursday, Feb. 10, 7 p.m.
Come with us back to a
time when Rock was King. A
time when we were young
and aspiring... exploring life,
underscored by the greatest
music ever recorded. Relive
Rock’s greatest hits with
The Hit Men — the real
guys who performed with legendary artists including
members of Foreigner, Journey, Styx, The Hooters, Steely
Dan, Cheap Trick, The Rascals, Alan Parsons, 3 Dog Night,
Cream, Grand Funk, and The Who. In their exciting multimedia
with these mega-stars, share their first-hand experiences
as eyewitnesses to rock history, and perform classic hits
you know and love… “Layla”, “Don’t Stop Believin’”, “I Want
To Know What Love Is”, “Feels Like The First Time”, “Eye in
the Sky” and many more… just the way you remember
them! In 2019, members of The Hit Men were recognized
by the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville
with the organization’s first-ever “Road Warriors Award”,
given to honor “their years of dedication to the music and
the countless miles they have traveled in delivering so
many hits throughout the world.” With backstage stories,
multi-media and top of the charts classic rock hits from so
many different rock legends, a performance by The Hit Men
the Emerson Center this year! The Emerson Center in collaboration
with the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach Social
Justice Committee presents the E-Series at the Emerson: Speakers,
Films and Forums.
As the US has grappled with the contentious issue of what to
teach our children about slavery and racism in our country, many
have suggested we look at Germany’s curriculum on teaching their
children about their Nazi era past. Filmed from 2014 to 2019 during
a time in Germany that has seen the rise of anti-immigrant and
neo-Nazi groups, the young German filmmaker wondered just how
effective is that curriculum which is frequently held up as a model
for the world. So, she set about exploring the subject in a rural town.
She visits classrooms, talking to teachers and students. An invaluable
part of the film are the scenes filmed in schools during the Nazi
period. All E-Series programs are open to all and free of charge as
part of the Emerson Center’s mission to provide quality educational
and thought-provoking events for our community.
