MEDICARE RECOGNIZES INDIAN RIVER HOME CARE
5
AS THE HIGHEST-QUALITY AGENCY
Founded in 2011 by Margot Kornicks, RN, MBA, Indian River
Home Care is the only home health agency in Indian River
County awarded the highest possible rating from Medicare
for three consecutive years. In every aspect of the extensive
survey, which assesses patient satisfaction and the quality of
care provided, Indian River Home Care was the sole agency to
receive five stars for each evaluation.

The review surveys all Medicare-certified home care
agencies, which are those that meet federal requirements in
order to offer services — such as nursing, physical therapy,
occupational therapy and speech therapy — at no cost to the
patient. According to Medicare, if one of these agencies is
rated “four or more stars, that means the agency performed
better than most other agencies on selected measures.”
The 13 measures, which include timely initiation of care,
improvement in ambulation, increased activity and decreased
hospitalizations, each contribute directly to a patient’s
improvement from admission to discharge.
Premier caregiver teams personally designed for each
patient promote recovery in an unprecedented way. With
clinicians who attend physician appointments, pick up
medications, communicate with family members and
coordinate with other health care providers, Indian River
Home Care patients often exceed their goals.
To further support these aspirations, Indian River Home
Care PLUS contracts with certified nursing assistants to offer
transportation, light housekeeping, medication assistance,
companionship, meal preparation and much more. Hired
privately, these caregivers uphold credentials to the greatest
standard and can accommodate any timeframe requested for
an hourly rate.
“Indian River Home Care has been a lifesaver for my family.
Their care allowed my mom and dad to have six more months
together, completely changing my dad’s outlook on his life,”
said Sarah Robinson, daughter of former patient Audrey
Fetter. “Almost a year later mom had a bad fall, and Indian
River Home Care was there again, getting her back on her feet.
My mom says having Margot in her life makes her feel like she
has another daughter close to home.”
Kornicks, who attended Vanderbilt University and The
George Washington University, first specialized in oncology
care at Massachusetts General Hospital. Ten years later,
she moved back to her hometown of Vero Beach, where
she pursued her passion for home health and ultimately
established Indian River Home Care.
“I wanted people to receive the care they deserve,” Kornicks
said. “I also wanted to offer the residents of Indian River
County the comfort of knowing they have a responsive
resource to turn to for any medical or personal need.”
Following that philosophy,
Indian River Home Care, which
was awarded Small Business
of the Year, also assists with
home security implementation;
hurricane preparation; travel
logistics; and now COVID-19
testing, in order to help local
businesses reopen safely.
“At Sea Oaks, we had an
excellent experience with Indian
River Home Care testing all
IRHC staff at the Indian River
51 employees for COVID-19,”

unprecedented pandemic, but also with sincere care for all.”
