Texas native Robert Bradshaw became city manager on
Nov. 1. He sees himself as a strong manager but not a micromanager
— a man who is a team builder, is outgoing, who
likes to put people at ease and to be fair. He says he prefers
transparency and hopes to change the public’s perceptions
of city hall.
“I have an open-door policy and believe in transparency,”
he says. “We work for the public and we have to make ourselves
available to them and to the staff.” He has no specific
visitors’ hours but will take appointments.
Like the mayor, he wants to see the city be more customer
and business friendly and see more day-to-day involvement
by citizens. Hudson says she hopes more people will volunteer
to help their city.
“A lot of people don’t like to come to city hall,” Bradshaw
says. “But we can be helpful, expedite things, and we can recruit
businesses to come here. Mayor Enns used to tell people
that whenever you finish a conversation, say something nice
about Fort Pierce.”
Bradshaw is hoping for ideas from the private sector, and
firms that are willing to partner with the city in various ways.
Partnerships with other entities are close to his heart —
including the Florida Department of Transportation, Florida
Ports Council, St. Lucie County, Fort Pierce Utilities Authority,
Fort Pierce Housing Authority, Indian River State >>
