ST. LUCIE HOMES
The front of the home was hidden by overgrown vegetation when the Goschkes began renovations. They removed a decorative concrete-columned wall
on either side of the front door to open up the entrance way.
After buying and customizing homes for years, Ann
and Doug Goschke have found their “last work in
progress” in the home they lived next to in PGA
Village for eight years.
Originally from Iowa, the Goschkes purchased
the second largest house in St. Lucie County when their home
ran out of room for their art and entertaining. Built at the end
of Enclave Circle by the developer of the nearby Legacy Golf
Club, the 2.4-acre estate is surrounded by nature preserve
and a green and a tee on the P.B. Dye PGA course.
Known as High Point, the estate reportedly has the highest
elevation in PGA Village. Over the course of eight years, the
front of the home became obscured with vegetation and the
Goschkes almost never saw the owner. Their first order of
business was to clear 10 dump truck-loads of vegetation and
landscape the property from the ground up.
The Goschkes were pleasantly surprised to find the interior
of the home to their liking with no need for any remodeling
except for some new paint. Built in 1991 before Hurricane
Andrew, the home has shutters, but among next season’s
projects are replacing all the windows with impact glass. The
hurricanes of 2004-5 “mean season” caused water damage
and the barrel tile roof was replaced.
After 10 years and three homes in PGA Village, the Goschkes
have settled in after buying the home in 2015. “Downsizing
is not in our playbook and we knew when we bought
this it was going to be a project,” Ann says.
High Point has eight bedrooms,10½ baths and 11,630 square
feet under air conditioning. The four-car garage, with a >>
Sebastian has the run of the place unless Doug and Ann Goschke are entertaining
up to 150 people at dinner parties they host throughout the season.
