“When we saw his sculptures around the world, we knew
he would create an iconic, recognizable piece of art for our
current and future residents and for visitors to travel and see.
People will revel in the sculpture’s sunlight brilliance and
dramatic evening illumination.”
“We became familiar with JEFRË from his outstanding art
installations at Lake Nona,” added Matt Berkis, vice president
of sales and marketing at Mattamy Homes Southeast
Florida. “Our curiosity was piqued and we began to research
and discovered his artwork that can be found around the
world which led to us picking him to develop this iconic
piece of art for Tradition.”
The sculpture is being constructed at JEFRË’s studio in central
Florida. The Filipino-American artist has created numerous
site-specific artworks in major cities around the world
including Reflection 2010 in Philadelphia’s Unity Plaza; The
Beacon and The Code Wall 2014 in Orlando; and Heaven’s Gate
2019 in Manila.
The artist’s first solo museum exhibition Points of Connection,
featuring large scale multimedia sculptures and installations,
debuted in October 2020 at the Orlando Museum of
Art. The exhibition presents a series of “site specific sculptures
constructed at a human scale.”
The maquettes of monumental public works will introduce
visitors to his past projects. He will also be the featured artist
next summer at Virgin Fest, the inaugural music festival from
Richard Branson, with more than 60 of his sculptures installed
on the festival grounds in Los Angeles. E
