Wedding Day – Sarah & Doug Meade
WHAT THEY DO: Doug Meade, 28, is an aerospace engineer for Pratt & Whitney, and Sarah, 23, is a registered nurse for Cleveland Clinic Martin Health.
HOW THEY MET: Like many millennial couples, they found each other through the comfort of a dating app. After a few exchanged messages, they met up for tacos, jammed out to John Mayer in the car, and ended the night at the beach watching the sunset. Sarah and Doug dated for three weeks before Sarah went back to the university for her last year of nursing school and Doug traveled to France for work. They carried on their romance long distance for roughly a year, with trips whenever possible to see each other. It wasn’t easy but their love persevered.
THE PROPOSAL: In September 2020, while on the beach at the House of Refuge on Hutchinson Island, Doug asked Sarah to share the rest of their lives together. She said yes! They celebrated with a steak dinner at the Hutchinson Shores Resort and Spa restaurant in Jensen Beach.
WHY DID THEY PICK THIS VENUE AND THEME CONCEPT?: Planning for a simple, yet beautiful wedding, the couple wanted their guests traveling from out of state to feel like they were in Florida. At Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens, surrounded by native plants and palm trees, the Florida effect was achieved. Guests were able to enjoy the cocktail hour exploring the grounds of the gardens with a drink in hand. The couple chose navy and mauve with silver accents for their wedding colors.
SPECIAL MOMENTS: The bride and her father choreographed a dance, and their guests were surprised by their dance moves. It was the perfect thing to kick off their celebration.
