As New York Mets fans converge this month for spring training at Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, they must be wondering which version of the 2025 team they’ll see. Will it be the team that, in mid-June, held the best record in Major League Baseball — or the one that limped to a sour finish, missing the playoffs on the final day of the season?

Last season’s collapse led Mets owner Steve Cohen to post on X in late September: “Met fans everywhere. I owe you an apology. You did your part by showing up and supporting the team. We didn’t do our part.”

Mets fan Steve Mance of Port St. Lucie said, “Being a Mets fan, you have a lot of ups and downs. We always joke that being a Mets fan makes you tough.”
