Edgar Allan Poe’s poem The Raven begins with these words: “Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore.”

Many quaint and curious volumes — in all manner of genres — are available in Port St. Lucie at a relatively new mother-and-daughter bookstore. Misty Nardone and Ashia Snow opened The Midnight Dreary in January 2025, offering readers a pleasant place to shop for book-related gifts, enjoy freshly-made baked goods, and ponder their selection of new and used books.
