Grand Oaks of Palm City
Where strangers become family
When Barbara transitioned to Grand Oaks of Palm City from another
nursing facility, she was in a difficult stage of her life. She came to
Grand Oaks with pneumonia and multiple wounds, and with the help
of Michelle, Director of Nursing, Barbar bounced back quickly. It was
during this time that Barbara and Michelle’s friendship blossomed.
“Michelle is the best! She’s always there when I need her,” says Barbara.
Every morning, Michelle helps Barbara put on her stockings and the two of them share stories, memories, and life
experiences. “It is nice to have someone to talk to. She really listens to me and has helped me during a difficult
time,” says Barbara.
Their relationship has grown, and Michelle and Barbara now view each other as family. “I think we are secretly
related,” Michelle laughs.
Barbara says that she feels close to Michelle and can tell her anything, and Michelle says Barbara is also a great
listener. “The fact that we can confide in each other makes me feel good,” says Michelle.
